Self-portrait on a farm lane
Newmarket, Ontario. Self-portrait on a farm lane off Bayview Avenue.
Approximately N44 01.271 W79 26.859 facing East, circa May 2002
A never-to-be-seen-again view from a farm lane during one of the final seasons of agriculture on a massive 34 square kilometre tract of farmland that a mere decade before separated the towns of Newmarket and Aurora. Since then, topsoil has been scraped and bagged, heritage sites excavated, razed or buried, land leveled watercourses subjugated, and high density suburban development laid in blurring the once distinct communities into one continuous strip of sprawl.
